Strip Back Distractions

Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God."

The greatest rival to intimacy is distraction. Have you been so busy doing good things but missing the God-thing?

Fasting is your invitation to simplicity again.

Stillness is where revelation breaks through. God really wants to speak to you on this fast! Stillness is where you will hear, where you will know, where you will see.

The enemy doesn't always need to destroy you, he just needs to distract you. But every moment of silence, every social media pause, every withdrawal from noise is warfare in the spirit.

You might find yourself reaching for your phone out of habit or noticing how often you eat to fill space. That awareness is a gift. It's God showing you how full your world has become of little things that don't truly satisfy.

When you strip back all of these distractions, you find you can hear Him again. You hear the quiet leadership of the Holy Spirit saying, "This is the way; walk in it." You realise that peace hadn't disappeared, it was just buried under all that clutter.

Let this fast reorder your attention. Create space to listen. Choose moments of solitude not as escape but as encounter. Lie down and soak in worship music. Get out and walk without any other noise. Sit in quiet. It's awkward, but good, to hear the sound of your own thoughts in His presence. Then as you do these things, your awareness of Him begins to lift. You start to sense His nearness in places you used to overlook.

This is what fasting does - it slows you down long enough to see that He's been there all along.

The more you remove, the more room there is for Him!

PRAY BOLD:

"Clear the clutter from my soul. Teach me to pause until Your presence fills the room.

Strip away distraction until You are my one focus. Let my stillness become the place of Your power."

EQUIPPERS EVERYWHERE:

Today we are praying for South Africa!

(As part of this fast, we're lifting up our Equippers family and churches around the world. Each day, take a few moments to pray for the country we list and our church/es there - praying for the pastors and people, and believing for God's presence, power, and provision to move in that nation.)
