Habakkuk 3:2
“Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
The prophet Habakkuk prayed this centuries after Israel’s great deliverances. He’d heard the stories about the Red Sea splitting, fire falling on Mount Carmel, dry bones coming alive - and something inside him cried, “Do it again, God.”
Repeat them in our day!
That’s the cry of revival: not nostalgia for the past but a holy refusal to believe God is finished moving in the present.
The Hebrew word translated “revive” in similar passages is ‘chayah’ which means ‘to breathe life again, to restore to vitality’. It’s the word used when God breathed life into Adam, and again when Elijah stretched over the dead boy and cried out for him to live.
Revival is the breath of God re-entering His people. Do you need revival? Do you have people in your household that need revival? Does your city need revival?
Throughout history, revival has looked different but sounded the same - hungry hearts crying out for more of God. It starts in secret places: upper rooms, living rooms, eGroups, and altars of repentance. It is birthed from prayer and humility.
In Acts 2, 120 believers gathered to pray, and the Holy Spirit came like a rushing wind and a movement was born. That same Spirit still longs to move through ordinary rooms and ordinary people. God has not retired from miracles. He has not withdrawn His Spirit from a generation. He’s looking for hearts that will burn like this again.
Maybe revival in our time won’t look like what we expect. It might break out in schools, in digital spaces, late night conversations, groups of flatmates encountering Jesus together around dinner tables. God is moving like that right now. Let’s pray for more of it!
Where do you long to see revival? What might it look like for you to carry the spark of revival wherever you go?
PRAY BOLD
“Lord, we have heard of Your fame - now let us see Your power. Revive Your Church again. Breathe life into dry bones, ignite cold hearts, and pour out Your Spirit on our sons and daughters. Sweep through our cities with repentance and reconciliation. Break addiction, heal division, restore purity, and release Your glory. Do in our day what only You can do. Do it again, God!”
EQUIPPERS EVERYWHERE:
Today we are praying for our global pastors and leaders!
(As part of this fast, we’re lifting up our Equippers family and churches around the world. Each day, take a few moments to pray for the country we list and our church/es there - praying for the pastors and people, and believing for God’s presence, power, and provision to move in that nation.)
