Acts 4:31
“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
When the disciples prayed with boldness, the Holy Spirit responded with power that shook the room.
This is what fasting prepares us for - not just inner renewal, but outward impact. When we fast and pray, we’re clearing the static so the Holy Spirit can fill us again. We then become carriers of courage. That kind of courage is what shifts environments. It revives churches. It softens hard hearts.
The disciples didn’t leave that moment with polished speeches or perfect plans - they left filled with the Holy Spirit, and that filling produced courage.
Boldness is what happens when the fear of man is replaced by the fear of God. The way we will change the world for God is by being believers who refuse to play small, knowing God has called us to live bold.
Could it be offensive to the Holy Spirit if we are constantly only doing the safe and predictable thing? Today we are inviting the Holy Spirit to disrupt what has become safe and predictable in our lives.
The early church didn’t pray for things to get easier. They prayed for courage to keep going. And when the world pushed back, they didn’t shrink. They prayed some more. And every time they prayed, God poured out His Spirit again.
When faith shakes the ground, the Holy Spirit comes upon us, and then it always begins with one bold move of obedience…
- It’s a bold move to walk away from a job that pays well but compromises your values.
- It’s a bold move to choose a path that may not impress others, but is obedient to God’s leading.
- It’s a bold move to surrender the timeline you've been holding onto - in singleness, in family, in breakthrough.
- It’s a bold move to let go of a relationship that’s unhealthy or misaligned.
- It’s a bold move to step into and stop resisting leadership, when you’d rather stay hidden.
- It’s a bold move to say “no” to a good opportunity so you can say yes to your calling.
- It’s a bold move to speak out about your faith when it would be easier to stay silent.
- It’s a bold move to tithe when finances are tight.
- It’s a bold move to obey the whisper of God to apply for something, resign, or step out.
- It’s a bold move to surrender past regret, shame, or the belief that “it’s too late.”
This is the kind of faith that shifts families, cities, and generations. This is the kind of obedience that writes testimonies.
We are the kind of church where people make bold moves for God! Every ground-shaking move of God starts with believers bold enough to say yes.
Let your prayer today be for God to not only move in you - but through you. Where do you want to see God’s presence shake things up - in culture, in your community, in your home, or inside you?
PRAY BOLD
“Holy Spirit, fill me again. Shake what needs shaking - in my heart, my home, my world. Give me courage to be obedient, to make bold moves for you, to speak truth and bring light wherever You send me.”
EQUIPPERS EVERYWHERE:
Today we are praying for Switzerland!
(As part of this fast, we’re lifting up our Equippers family and churches around the world. Each day, take a few moments to pray for the country we list and our church/es there - praying for the pastors and people, and believing for God’s presence, power, and provision to move in that nation.)
